The Return of Classic Mode: A Disappointment for Dead Space Fans

It's hard to believe that it's been over five years since the original Dead Space was released, and yet, we're still waiting for a satisfying experience from Visceral Games and EA. The latest installment in the series, Dead Space 3, had promised to deliver more of what fans loved about the first game, but unfortunately, it fell short. One of the biggest letdowns is the lack of effort put into creating a classic mode that would have brought back the nostalgic feel of the original games.

For those who are not familiar with the series, Dead Space 2 was released two and a half years after the first game, bringing some changes to make the game more action-focused while still maintaining the tense atmosphere of the first. The story was deepened, and the game world's history was explored further. I loved the new approach to survival horror, the marketing campaign that included a trailer edited by James Wan, the tied-in films and novels, and the expectation of sequels.

Fast forward to Dead Space 3, and we're left with a lackluster experience. The classic mode is supposed to be a nod to the original games, allowing players to play through the story without the distractions of modern mechanics like co-op and crafting. However, it's clear that little effort was put into creating this gamemode. Playing through the first four chapters, I noticed numerous issues that would have been easily fixed with some testing.
